But then what would the purpose of it be? There's no reason to attract viewers and from other sites and have nothing here...

He means the background. I think there will come more members to this site if you change the page setup. The "Theme" isn't really attractive to visit the site.
This is site for graphic so the "Theme", background should also be more creative and attractive.
